Kogi Governor Presents N820b 2026 Budget for Approval

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has put forward a budget of N820,490,584,443 before the State’s House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The budget tagged“Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All” represents a 35.7% increase from the 2025 budget, in which a sum of N367,448,083,683 serves as recurrent expenditure and N453,042,501,760 as capital expenditure,” he explained.

Governor Ododo reiterated that the budget would be used for repayment of Nigerian Government debts, boost internal revenue, attract great investment and propel growth in all sectors.

It will strengthen public-private partnership, will be used to complete all pending projects while new projects will be introduced in connection with the State’s development plan.

After he had presented in details the indices and achievements of 2025, the Governor said; “we have therefore crafted the 2026 draft budget to further advance our mission of shared prosperity and sustainable growth. Our economic outlook focuses on improving household welfare, expanding production capacity and strengthening enterprise growth’’.

On his part, Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf while addressing the House praised the Governor‘s dedication to development, security and human capital growth.

Yusuf noted that his administration has brought accelerated growth to the health, education and agricultural sectors, while constructing roads and managing finances.

He however appealed to the Governor to meet some Assembly’s pressing needs like computerisation of legislative operations, recruitment of staff, provision of busses for legislative activities.

Then he called on Ministries, agencies, standing committees, political heads and other critical stakeholders to honour invitations for budget defense and appraisal.
