A chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Mr Abdulrahman Tanko-Ozi, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring support for the APC governorship candidate in the State, Mr Usman Ododo.

The chieftain, who was the SDP’s senatorial candidate for Kogi West in the 2023 general elections, on Thursday collapsed his structures and moved his loyalists in Kogi West to the APC.

Tanko-Ozi, who is now APC’s big fish, was the minority leader in Kogi House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011, representing Kogi/Koton Karfe State constituency.

“Having analyzed all the candidates of the various political parties, including the SDP, I have come to realize that only Ododo has the required competence and will to govern Kogi and truly build on the achievements of Gov. Yahaya Bello.

“From what I have seen so far in the State, I have to commend our amiable governor for providing a purposeful leadership and unprecedented infrastructure in the State,” he said.
