Kogi State House of Assembly has held a valedictory session on Monday to honor the legacy of the late Enema Paul, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, who passed away on December 14, 2024, after battling an undisclosed illness.
During the session, lawmakers took turns to pay tribute to their late colleague, eulogizing him for his significant contributions to the development of Kogi State.
The Speaker of the House, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, acknowledged Enema Paul’s dedication to the state.
He said ”In solemn remembrance of a remarkable public servant, a statesman, and former Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Enema Paul, whose departure has left a void in our hearts. Surely, this was a man of uncommon characteristics; an individual with unique features that set him apart, and is already being missed by his colleagues, family, friends, and the entire Kogi State community”.
The Speaker emphasized that Enema Paul was passionate in the delivery of justice “His passion for justice, fairness, and equity was evident in the legislative strides he championed, ensuring that the voice of every citizen resonated within the chambers of the House”.
The legislators affirmed that he was a source of inspiration and mentorship.
They described him as humble and approachable to all who had the privilege of working with him.
Enema Paul had resigned as Deputy Speaker earlier on health grounds. He had been battling an illness since 2011 and had sought permission to travel abroad for treatment. His legacy, however, continues to be celebrated by his colleagues and the people of Kogi State.
