Kogi Newly Created  Ministry Of Livestock, Awaits Commissioner.

The 8th parliament in Kogi State has screened and confirmed Dr Bolarin Olufemi, the commissioner nominee for Ministry of Livestock Development.

The commissioner is expected to take charge of livestock farming while exploring new innovations in order to make the State livestock sufficient, create employment, generate revenue and boost the economy of the State.

 

He appeared before the House on Tuesday testifying about his proven track records in the agricultural sector in his homeland and abroad.

 

He declared his commitment to the task ahead “ Kogi is central to where we can leverage on mass production of Livestock to fill the quantity and to export. So my exceeding business, duty is to increase food security in the State increase productivity and build the resilience of our farmers and this I will not fail to do”.

 

Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf haven examined  his records, eager to know the minds of his colleagues opened the floor for questioning.

 

During the session, member representing Iyagba West Idowu Ibikunle testified of the capabilities of Dr Bolarin who is a one-time commissioner for Agriculture, an associate professor, a lecturer in his field, his passion for agriculture and presented reasons why he should  be considered.

 

His counterpart from Ibaji Abu Jibrin expressed no doubt in his skills but charged him to think outside the box He stated “how much will you think outside the box? so much so the State will benefit from your wealth of experience. There are challenges in the numbers of unemployment, policy making, synergy with national, so that we don’t depend on State alone” he described  him as a round peg in a round hole.

 

Other legislators took turns to question and charge him with the development of the ministry.

 

He was  at the end unanimously confirmed after giving satisfactory answers to the Committee of Whole.
