A seven-member committee for the Kogi Accountability Platform (KPA) has been inaugurated to enhance good governance in the Kogi state.
The platform aims to work with state and non-state actors of the Open Government Partnership, OGP to ensure the current administration fulfills its promises.
OGP is a global initiative aimed at promoting transparency, empowering citizens, combating corruption, and harnessing new technologies to strengthen governance
The committee was launched by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Teddy Adegbola, during a Round Table Discussion on Good Governance in Lokoja, the State capital.
The event, organised by Stallion Times and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, is funded by the McArthur Foundation.
Facilitator Leslie Babangida emphasised the need for inclusivity, accountability, quality service delivery, and anti-corruption policies. He highlighted the importance of community involvement in policy-making and budget transparency.
Coordinator Ishiyaku Ahmed stressed the importance of a technical working group to foster dialogue between the government and citizens, aiming for accelerated development in Kogi State.
The meeting concluded with a call for the government to hold town hall meetings across the three senatorial districts to address key issues such as rural road expansion and electricity supply.
