Amidst festive season, the Kogi State Association of Islamic Scholars, known as Council Of Ulama’u of Nigeria (CUN) has enjoined Muslims in the state to coexist peacefully with the Christians in line the teachings of both main religions in Nigeria.
The CUN, in a statement by the state administrative Secretary, Alhaji Babango Idris, wish Christian families happy celebration of this year’s Christmas and New Year festivities with renewed hope for a lasting peace between the adherents of Islam and Christianity in the state, with history of inter-religious peace and harmony.
The statement reads, “We use the season of Christmas to call on Christians to adopt and sincerely emulate the ever lovely characteristics of Jesus, Alayhi Sallam, (Peace be upon him), in all their affairs. we equally enjoin all Christians in the state in particular and Nigeria in general to always remember the country and its peace-loving people in their fervent prayers for peace at all times,in the hope that Nigeria overcome all her challenges of Nationhood such as the security problem facing the Nigerian nation.
The Council says for the sustainability of the peace, harmony, unity and peaceful coexistence among the people of the state, man’s faithfulness in God’s infinity in the affairs of Man, never leads man astray, but rather leads man to righteousness and salvation in all difficulties.
He advised believers of all faiths to keep their abiding trust in God to ease all problems of life confronting their existence.
CUN commends Christians and Muslims for keeping up these important virtues in the face of trying moment and wishes all the people of the state a memorable celebration of Christmas and New Year in advance.
