The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered an immediate investigation into the recent prison break at Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, the Minister promised that all escaped inmates would be recaptured using the service’s advanced biometric database and deployed technology solutions.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Babatunde Alao, Dr. Tunji-Ojo directed the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi, to visit the facility, assess the situation, and conduct a thorough audit to determine the cause of the breach.

“We are on top of the situation. Our personnel are on the ground in Kogi, and I have ordered a comprehensive audit of the incident,” he stated.
