The Kwankwasiyya Movement has cautioned the Kano State House of Assembly and the Kano State Government against proceeding with moves to impeach the state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, warning that such action could deepen political divisions and undermine the mandate of the people.
In a statement, spokesperson of the movement, Dr. Habibu Saleh described the impeachment process as disturbing and urged political actors in the state to avoid actions that may appear politically motivated.
According to him, “residents of Kano State are closely watching developments, and there is growing concern that the impeachment move may be driven more by political considerations than genuine constitutional necessity.”
Saleh stressed that, although the constitution empowers lawmakers to carry out legislative oversight, impeachment remains one of the most serious powers available to a legislature and should never be used for political convenience.
He warned that impeachment must not be reduced to a tool for settling political disagreements or rearranging political alignments, noting that, such a process must be guided by justice, fairness and the overall interest of the people.

The Kwankwasiyya spokesperson also reminded the state leadership that the mandate that brought the present administration to power was the product of the collective efforts and sacrifices of thousands of supporters across the 44 local government areas of Kano.
He noted that the electoral victory that produced the current government was not the achievement of a single individual but the result of the unity, loyalty, and dedication of Kwankwasiyya supporters across the state.
Saleh further warned that actions perceived as targeting key figures within the administration could send the wrong signal to supporters who worked tirelessly to secure electoral victory.
He therefore urged members of the Kano State House of Assembly to exercise their constitutional responsibilities with caution, independence, and a clear sense of accountability to the electorate.
The movement also warned that political actions perceived as persecution could heighten tensions within the state’s political environment.
He reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to peace, democratic stability and the protection of the political mandate given by the people of Kano, urging all political actors to act with restraint and wisdom at this critical time.
