Kwara First Lady  Inaugurates Renewed Hope Initiatives  Agricultural Programmes

First Lady of Kwara State, Founder Ajike People Support Center and Chairperson Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum,  Ambassador Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq has described agriculture as a sustainable business and veritable tool of empowerment for women and youths alike.
Ambassador Abdulrazaq who is also the State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative said this at the inauguration of Renewed Hope Initiatives of Young Farmers Club, Women Agricultural Support Programme, every home a garden and Youth Agricultural Support held at the Banquet Hall Government House Ilorin.

 

She identified the Programme on agriculture and promoting food security in Nigeria, as a laudable feat of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria,  Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food security
According to her, it will in no small measure increase food production and support families and households.
Ambassador Abdulrazaq pointed out that the Young Farmers Club is designed to make farming more appealing to pupils and students, nurture a generation that will transform agricultural landscape, imbibe modern farming techniques, and ensure that Nigeria remains self-sufficient in food production, in line with the food security drive of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The First lady added that the Women Agricultural Support programme, Every Home a Garden and the Youth Agricultural Support is aimed to endear women and youth to farming as an avenue to create wealth, as their passion, energy and creativity will no doubt drive innovation and growth in this sector.
The Founder of the Ajike People Support Center maintained that Agriculture remains a vital component of Nigeria’s economy, contributing more than a fifth of the GDP and employing almost two thirds of the total working population hence the intervention by the First Lady of Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and food security is timely as it would duly engage the beneficiaries and create pathways to boosting agricultural production in the country.
The first lady who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Saba Jibril, therefore enjoined women to create garden spaces in their homes to grow crops and vegetables for family consumption and in the event of bountiful harvests share with neighbours saying that trainings for youth and women Agricultural Support Programme and every home a garden will commence in earnest and inputs and other necessary support as provided by the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security would be presented to beneficiaries.
In their remarks, Abdulwahab Ahmed who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked Professor  Abdulrazaq for facilitating the programme and promised to make judicious use of the items provided to them for self reliance.
