The Kwara State Government has constituted a Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 7th Edition of the Nutritious Food Fair taking place in the state.
The Nutritious Food Fair, which is a commercial platform for promoting the breeding, production, marketing and consumption of nutritious foods in Nigeria, is expected to hold from December 15 to 16, 2021 at the State Government Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin.
Speaking at the maiden meeting of the Committee, the LOC Chairman, Abdulquawiy Olododo charged other members of the committee to work assiduously towards the successful hosting of the event.
Olododo, who is also the Technical Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, said the hosting of the event is in recognition of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s giant strides in nutritious foods security and job security for Youths and Women in the State.
The Chairman further urged the Committee members to mobilize the would-be participants and stakeholders in agriculture value chain across the State to the event with a view to having a befitting and successful outcome.
Tackling hunger
The Country Manager, HarvestPlus, Mr. Yusuf Fouad explained that the body is working with the Global partners to tackle hidden hunger on a global scale through breeding of Vitamins and Minerals into everyday food crops.
Fouad said the Organization’s innovative approach is complementing other nutrition interventions which are evidence-based, cost-effective and also sustainable.
According to him, the event would feature Food Exhibition, Nutrikitchen, and Panel Discussion on Food and Nutrition Business among other side attractions.
The 2-day event is expected to gather stakeholders in nutritious food sector including Policy Makers, Researchers, Farmers, Food Processors, among others to showcase and market innovations as well as sharing of ideas on emerging nutritious foods.
