Kwara Governor, others, mourn veteran broadcaster, Yemi Ademokoya

The Kwara State Governor,  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the families and associates of veteran broadcaster Mrs. Yemi Ademokoya who died on Saturday after a brief illness.

With total submission to the will of God, we mourn with the immediate and professional families and associates of the veteran broadcaster who bestrode  the airwaves for decades. She was a core professional and patriot who remained true to the ethics of her job till her last breath. She was a sage in her own right. Her passion for ethical broadcasting was immeasurable. We will miss her,” the statement said.

 

We especially send our heartfelt commiserations to Radio Kwara, the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the  National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) where she served as one of its leaders in Kwara State until her passing. We pray to the Almighty God to comfort the families she left behind.”

 

The governor’s condolence message was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

 

In a related development,  the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria of Journalists (NUJ) has condoled with the family of late veteran broadcast Journalist, Chief (Mrs) Yemi Ademokoya Agboola, who died on Saturday.

 

According to a statement signed by the Council’s Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda, the Union received the sudden death of one of the vibrant Veteran journalists in the state with rude shock and disbelief.

 

The statement stated that Kwara NUJ will not forget her vibrancy even in retirement as she contributed positively to the journalism profession.

 

“The deceased was until her death, a veteran broadcaster and journalist, who produced popular programmes on Radio in the state.

 

“As tragic as the passing of Mrs Ademokoya is for broadcasters and all of us in pen fraternity, we take solace in her various contributions to journalism profession, especially broadcasting industry in Kwara State where she groomed and mentored many fine broadcasters and journalists, who are excelling in the industry across the globe”, the NUJ said.

 

The statement added that the death of Ademokoya was a colossal loss to the broadcasting industry and journalism profession.

 

The union, however, prayed to the Almighty God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

 

Ademokoya, until her death, was the Treasurer of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NELVEJ) in Kwara State.

 

She passed away on Saturday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital during a brief illness.

 

Late Chief Mrs Yemi Ademokoya Agboola, a seasoned broadcaster, died at the age of 67 years and survived by family, children and grandchildren.

In the same vein,  the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), in Kwara State has described the death of ace broadcaster and the treasurer of the league, Chief (Mrs) Yemi Ademokoya Agboola as saddened and unfortunate.

 

Chief Ademokoya according to a statement from her family died on Saturday at the age of 67.

 

The league in a statement by its chairman, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi lamented the loss of one of the active, committed and vibrant member of the association of senior journalists.

 

He said members of the league and the entire media practitioners in Kwara state and Nigeria will miss the wise counsel of the late Ademokoya.

 

Extolling the virtues of the deceased, Akanbi noted that Ademokoya had through her numerous radio programmes impacted positively in the lives of not only Kwarans but Nigerians.

 

He added that Ademokoya left a legacy of hard work, commitment, meticulous and uprightness.

 

The NALVEJ chairman commiserated with the immediate and extended family of the deceased, the league and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at both the national and state levels over the death of veteran broadcaster.

 

He prayed God to grant the family she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
