The Kwara State Government has solicited the support of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the upcoming campaign for distribution of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITN). The Kwara Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam revealed this on Friday during a visit to the Emir in Ilorin, to seek a royal blessing ahead of the campaign’s kick-off.

She noted that the success of the campaign partly depended on the Emir’s prayers and support. “Arrangements are in top gear to distribute at least 2,000,200 insecticide-treated nets to various households as part of measures to eliminate malaria, which she called a killer-disease.
El-Imam said the 2023 edition of the nets distribution would be combined with the ongoing Seasonal Malaria Chemo-prevention (SMC).
“It is an integrated activity for the benefit of all that are resident in the 16 local government areas (LGAs) of the state”.
Also speaking, the representative of the National Malaria Elimination Programme, (NMEP), Malam Bala Masu, in his remarks, appreciated the Emir on behalf of the team.
He prayed to God to grant the traditional ruler long life, resounding health and more accomplishment for the people of the state.
In his response, Dr. Sulu-Gambari prayed for the success of the campaign, and the safety of the Ministry’s officials.
He promised to talk to other traditional rulers in the state to give the programme the necessary backing.
The Emir enjoined all Kwara residents to make good use of “this highly effective intervention brought to our state through the efforts of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the benefit of our people”.
