Kwara Govt. Warns Traders Against Displaying Goods On Road Sides
Kwara government has warned traders to desist from encroaching on roads while displaying their goods for sale.
The Commissioner for Environment, Malam Shehu Ndanusa, made the warning during the enforcement of the state environmental law on Saturday in Ilorin.
“The State Environmental Taskforce will not hesitate to sanction violators of the law.’’
He said that despite the ministry’s sensitisation and advocacy on radio, television and newspapers on the need for marketers to adhere strictly to the state environmental laws, some still refused to comply.
The commissioner said that lack of compliance had necessitated the taskforce to enforce the law, adding offenders would be prosecuted.
He, therefore, warned environmental violators to desist.
“Henceforth, anybody caught selling goods on pedestrians, road medians or dropping refuse indiscriminately will face the full wrath of the law,’’ he said.
Ndanusa urged marketers and residents of the state to join hands with the present administration in its efforts towards sustaining a clean and healthy environment.
The members of the taskforce included are environmental health officers, forestry officers, police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and members of the state chapter of the National Youths Council.
