
In a bid to foster the growth of indigenous pharmaceutical companies within the state, the Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) has entered into a partnership with Sam Pharmaceutical Company Limited to enhance the drug supply chain system and improve healthcare service delivery for all residents of Kwara.
The Executive Secretary of the KW-HMB, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, announced the initiative during an inspection of the facilities of Sam Pharmaceutical Company Limited located at Geri Alimi, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Dr Malik stated that the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, remains committed to supporting local pharmaceutical firms that have significantly contributed to the state’s economy and productively engaged local youths over the years.

He highlighted that Sam Pharmaceutical Company Limited is one of the oldest pharmaceutical firms in the state, having built a strong reputation over time, and expressed confidence in the company’s capacity to supply quality medicines to hospitals across Kwara.
According to Dr Malik, “this moment is historic for Kwara State, as the government collaborates with indigenous pharmaceutical companies. All credit goes to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”
He emphasised that while the government is keen on promoting indigenous enterprises, partnerships will only be formed with companies that demonstrate a clear commitment to quality assurance in the supply of medicines, noting that the health of Kwara residents remains the government’s utmost priority.
Responding on behalf of Sam Pharmaceutical Company Limited, the Superintendent Pharmacist, Pharm. Salami Isaac, expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government and the management of the Board for the initiative.
He acknowledged that the partnership marks a historic milestone for the company, which would not be taken for granted, and admitted that the government’s support would enhance the company’s corporate image.
He pledged that the company would continue to maintain the supply of high-quality drugs to its consumers.
Other members of the Board present during the visit included Pharm. Mustapha Jimoh, Director of Pharmacy; Pharm. Lovet Oladele, Project Coordinator of the Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme (EDP); Pharm. Mustapha Hasiat; Mr Adamu Usman, Press Secretary; and Mr Moshood Ibrahim, the Admin Officer.
