Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Nigeria’s para-badminton star, Mariam Eniola Bolaji, after clinching the gold medal at the just concluded 2025 British and Irish Para-Badminton International Tournament.
Describing the feat as “incredible,” the Governor said Bolaji’s victory has once again placed Kwara, Nigeria and Africa in the global spotlight.
“I join sports lovers around the world to celebrate the legendary para-badminton talent Mariam Eniola Bolaji on yet another incredible feat on the global stage,” the Governor said in a statement.
Bolaji, who hails from Kwara State, has continued to rise as one of the top para-athletes globally. Her performance at the international tournament, according to AbdulRazaq, further confirms her status as a world-class athlete.
“She is cementing her place as one of the best para-athletes in the world, and we are extremely proud of her achievements,” the statement added.
AbdulRazaq, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, praised the young athlete’s determination, courage and hard work, noting that her story serves as an inspiration to many.
“She stands as an inspiration to our younger generation that there is no limit to what they can achieve in life,” he said.
Kwara Sate Government Firmly Behind Bolaji
The Governor urged Bolaji to remain focused and committed as she sets her eyes on greater heights, assuring that the state government remains firmly behind her.
“Our administration recently named a sporting facility after her. We will continue to honour her efforts and support her every step of the way,” AbdulRazaq said. “Thank you for making Africa, Nigeria, and Kwara proud once again, Eniola.”
Bolaji’s victory adds to her growing list of international honours and positions her as one of the continent’s brightest prospects in para-sports.
