Kwara State Government to boost poultry business

The Kwara State Government has expressed its readiness to boost poultry sector through the rehabilitation of some government’s poultry facilities across the three senatorial district of the State.

The State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made this known during the Inauguration ceremony of the newly elected executive members of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN Kwara State Chapter in Ilorin.

Governor Abdulrasaq  was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hajia Maryam Mohammed Nurudeen.

He explained that livestock sub sector was one of the core pillars of the recently launched 10 years State Agriculture Transformation Plan of the present Government.

He said when executed, the project would have the capacity to create hundreds of both direct and indirect jobs for the teeming youth and women been the main target of the project in addition to its nutritional benefits to the people.

In his inaugural address, the elected Chairman, Mr. Akinwumi Richard said that PAN under his stewardship would be partnership driven with a view to solve the existing problem of unemployment, massive production of poultry related items to the teeming population of Kwarans and beyond, massive production of protein for export as a driver for economic recovery and development.

Mr. Richard stressed that PAN would continue to solidify the Association’s partnership with the State Government to ensure proper implementation of the School Feeding Programme, Poultry Out-Grower Schemes.

He also said that they would  assist in bringing back the popular Young Farmers Club in Secondary Schools to educate and give practical knowledge to young school leavers among other programmes.

The Chairman appreciated the State Government’s unceasing support for the Association and appealed for more collaborations to achieve desired development needed in the State livestock Sector.
