Kwara State Judiciary Reaffirms Commitment To Justice

The Kwara State Judiciary has reaffirmed its commitment to justice delivery and judicial reforms as it commenced the 2024/2025 Legal year with a special court session on Tuesday at the State High Court.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, praised the judiciary for its steadfast dedication to upholding justice.

He noted that “the strong relationship between the executive and judicial arms had led to key achievements, including the seamless operation of the recently established small claims Court.”

He congratulated the newly appointed judges, saying the administration had, in the last five years, appointed 11 High Court judges while also administering the Oath of Office to the current Chief Judge and Grand Khadi.

The Governor assured them that judicial welfare remained a top priority, stating that the government had begun constructing a modern courthouse named after Kwara’s first Chief Judge, Justice Saidu Kawu.

AbdulRazaq also congratulated the Kwara citizens recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, as well as law professors and other distinguished honorees. He urged them to continue making the state proud.

With the new legal year underway, the session reaffirmed the government’s resolve to strengthen the judiciary and enhance access to justice across all court levels in Kwara State.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara expressed gratitude to the State Governor, AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering support of the Judiciary.

The harmonious relationship between the Judiciary and the Executive in Kwara State is a testament to our shared commitment to democracy, justice, and the welfare of our citizens,” he said.

Justice Adebara reaffirmed the Judiciary’s commitment to upholding justice and efficiency, noting that the ongoing construction of a modern courthouse, comprising 10 courtrooms and chambers, will significantly ease space constraints upon completion.

We are better equipped to deliver justice efficiently and effectively, and we look forward to continued collaboration to tackle emerging challenges,” he said.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman urged the State Chief Judge not to relent in his quest to reform the system .

He commended the judges of the state high court for the sacrifices and national role in assuring the dispensation of without fear or favour despite the exigency of time and the binding factor.

Representing the newly anointed and introduced high court judges, Justice Ibijoke Olawoyin thanked the Governor for their appointments.

He promised that they would not betray the trust and confidence bestowed on them and would do their best to unfold justice with all their might.

The New Judges introduced are Justice Ibijoke Olawoyin, Justice Fatimah Funsho Abdulrazaq, Justice Yusuf Adebayo DIkko, Justice Temitope Olalekan Osuolale- Ajayi and Justice Muritala Oba Folorunsho.

The event marked a significant step in the evolution of Kwara’s judicial system, setting the stage for a more efficient and accessible legal framework in the state.
