The Kwara Government says it is constructing a waste recycling plant at Offa to sanitise the environment.

The state Commissioner for  Environment, Mr Usman Ndanusa, made this known during handing over of the project site to the contractor.

Ndanusa said the state government was committed to sustaining a clean environment to ensure healthy living conditions for the people.

This is another landmark achievement by the current administration in Kwara State to complement its efforts on waste management across the state.

The project is part of the Federal Government’s  Intervention Programme designed to assist states in addressing challenges of waste management.

Through the adoption of best environmental practices and technology, which is, of course, expected to attract private sector partnership and would be investors,” Ndanusa said.

He stressed the state government’s efforts aimed at sustaining a clean, safe, and healthy Kwara for all to live in for the benefit of the entire citizens in the state and environs.

Earlier, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Hajia Zainab Yusuf, lauded the state governor for the immediate approval of the site.

She also appreciated the government’s handing over of the site to the contractor to commence the construction while thanking Offa community for the warm reception.

Yusuf urged them to monitor the construction of the project to ensure quality delivery.

Responding, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, lauded the governor for his various projects, which the Offa community had benefited from since the inception of the current  administration

Let me use this medium to applaud our Governor, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unconditional love for Offa people.

Especially, for bringing another gigantic project to Offa land. We have enjoyed the dividends of democracy more than our expectations, no doubt.

We however hope the good gesture will continue for the development of Ibolo land,” the traditional ruler added.

The Olofa of Offa, who was represented by the Asalofa of Offa, Alhaji Isiaka Shittu, pledged the support of the Offa community to the present administration.

He promised to ensure a thorough supervision of the project and take good ownership of the plant when completed for efficient utilisation.
