The Kwara side had their first outing on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium in Lagos state.

The game had dignitaries including the Governor of Kwara state, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, his wife, Ambassador Olufunke AbdulRazaq and other dignitaries in attendance.

The energetic team scored their first goal after a penalty kick taken by Paul Samson, five minutes into the match.

The second and third goals, which came in at the 35th and 45th minutes respectively were scored by the team’s super striker, Wasiu Jimoh.

With the three goals to nil, the team qualified for the cash prizes earlier announced by Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin.

Recall that Mustapha had on Saturday announced cash prizes up to 20,000 USD for the team if they win the league.

For instance, for every goal scored, the team earns 500 USD and the sum 10, 000 USD, if they advance beyond the group stage.

The Turaki noted that the cash reward is his modest way of supporting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s vision of constantly positioning Kwara on the big stage through sports and other endeavours.

It should be noted that ahead of the Sunday game, Kwara Central Senatorial hopeful spoke with the Kwara United FC players and team over a video call, encouraging them to make Kwara and Nigeria proud.

He also sponsored hundreds of supporters to watch the match to cheer up the players.
