Kwara: VON congratulates Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum

The Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has congratulated the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on his recent election as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).

Mr Okechukwu stated this on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, North Central Nigeria, describing the Governor’s election as well deserved, especially considering his numerous achievements in the State and the landslide victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the last general elections.

The Director General was represented by the Director of VON’s Digital Media Department, Hajia Sani, who presented the organisation’s letter of Congratulations to Governor AbdulRazaq’s Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, in Government House, Ilorin.

Mr Okechukwu however, appealed to the Governor to use his new office to ensure a good working relationship between the Presidency and the National Assembly on the one hand and between the Presidency and State Governments on the other hand, for meaningful development and adequate security across the country within the shortest time possible.

According to him, the first four years of Mallam AbdulRazaq has seen impactful benefits to the citizenry and commended his administration for maintaining relative peace and harmony in the State, as well as ensuring cordial relationship with lawmakers in the State House of Assembly.

Mr Okechukwu reiterated VON’s plans to further strengthen its operations in Kwara State, as part of the media outfit’s mandate to project and promote happenings in every part of Nigeria to the world.

The VON DG stressed that in tandem with the organisation’s establishment law, VON has been reporting events in Kwara State professionally since the Governor assumed office in 2019.

He therefore solicited the support of the Governor for a formal VON presence in the State, particularly due to the strategic location of Kwara State in the North Central part of the country.

Responding, on behalf of the Governor, the Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Ajakaye, thanked the Management and Staff of VON for the congratulatory message sent to the Governor.

He also appreciated the Director General of the organisation, for the kind words and encomiums poured on his boss.

Ajakaye equally commended VON for the publicity it has been giving to the State since the Governor was elected into office and pledged to look into the request made by the organisation for a formal presence in the State.
