The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, LP has appealed to electorates to put aside ethnic and religious differences and vote for patriotism.
Mr Peter Obi made the statement through the Spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Yunusa Tako who described the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Ptere Obi as “the man with competence, capacity and character to address the socio-economic challenges facing the country.”
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja Nigeria’s Capital, Mr. Yunusa said that Mr Obi is a Pan-Nigerian-Candidate, who has no ethnic, religion or regional colouration and “who by God’s power has captured the imagination of Nigerian youths.”
He urged Nigerians of all hues, creed and tribe to look beyond tribes and tongues and vote for a presidential candidate who would transform Nigeria from consumption to production.
Challenges Of Hunger
The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council also said that Mr Peter Obi who is a former Anambra State Governor said that Nigerians were bearing the brunt of the challenges of hunger, unemployment, irrespective of religious affiliation, ethnic cleavages or geographical location.
He further stated; “There is insecurity everywhere in our dear country, Nigerians in the East, West, South and North are being terrorised by insurgents and bandits and we have witnessed killings and kidnapping nationwide.”
Transform Nigeria
The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council reiterated that “Mr Obi is a solution provider” and “will transform Nigeria to a progressive, united and prosperous nation,” if voted as President in 2023.
He reemphasised that Nigerians should:”Choose the right person with the requisite competence, experience and capacity to tackle these problems irrespective of where the person comes from, his religious affiliation or ethnic background.”
Mr Yunusa stated; “Obi gave assurance that if Nigerians vote for him and his running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti, they would galvanise all the human and material resources of the country to tackle the security and economic challenges facing the country.”
The Campaign Council also promised that the Labour Party would run a people centred government, and not one that would favour a few elite at the detriment of the generality of Nigerians.
