Lagos Assembly harps on financial regulation by MDAs

The Lagos State House of Assembly, Public Accounts (State) has insisted on the need for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS) to ensure strict compliance with the financial regulation, guiding income and expenditure and other spending of Public Funds that would portray principle of accountability, probity and financial discipline.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Moshood Oshun tasked heads of government’s agencies and parastatals that appeared before the Committee to clarify issues raised by the office of the Auditor General of the State in relation to strict adherence to financial provisions and guidelines for all agencies.

Hon. Oshun reiterated the need for all government agencies to show seriousness and adherence to the law on financial regulation stipulated while carrying out their duties and obligation.

According to him, Accountability, Probity and Financial diligence should be the watchword for all agencies as the Assembly would not condone any deviation or financial recklessness by any agency of government.

Hon. Oshun however, reassured all Lagosian of the commitment of his Committee and indeed the Lagos Assembly to various developmental projects of the State Government in a way that would enhance the welfare of all Lagosians.

The Chairman also implored the (MDAs) to forward their needs and challenges to the Committee with a view to finding solutions to their problems.

The exercise is expected to last for 3 weeks. In the meantime, over 100 (MDAs) have appeared before the Committee.
