The Executive Chairman of the council, Princess Olabisi Adebajo, said at the programme that patronage of quacks or unqualified persons for medical care could lead to serious problems.

Represented by Mr Dayo Osinowo,Vice Chairman of the council, Adebajo noted that many people patronise quacks because they cannot afford to seek care at the hospital.

He said, “The state government, as part of efforts to make qualitative healthcare accessible to all residents, had introduced a mandatory health insurance scheme, “Ilera Eko Health Scheme” in the state.

“Under the scheme, enrollees could access care in approved hospitals in any part of the state.

“Lagos State has the responsibility of ensuring that all residents are enrolled within the state’s health insurance programme.

“This facility lasts for a year after which the subscription is expected to be renewed.

“The subscribers are expected to have access to health care in hospitals of their choice. Jus over a million people have been enrolled so far.

“For us in Mosan-Okunola, Rauf Aregbesola PHC, Akinogun PHC, and Akinyele PHC are the three PHCs approved for offering Ilera Eko Health Scheme,” he said.

According to Adebajo, those enrolled in the approved facilities in the area would have access to services such as eye care, treatments, diagnostic and laboratory services, dental care, among others.
