The Lagos State Government, in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) and the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), South West Zone, has trained and empowered beachfront tourism operators at Tarkwa Bay Island.

The initiative, part of activities marking the 2025 World Tourism Day (WTD), included the donation of modern grilling and barbecue equipment to improve hospitality services.

Speaking at the event, NATOP President Hajia Bolaji Mustapha said the programme aligns with this year’s WTD theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” and urged Nigerians to explore local destinations to boost economic growth.

FTAN South West Vice President, Mr. Gbenga Sunmonu, said “the training would help operators adopt modern culinary techniques, enhance service delivery, and attract more visitors.”

The programme concluded with the formal presentation of the grilling equipment to Tarkwa Bay operators.
