Lagos Governor, Legislators-elect Receive Certificates Of Return

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy Dr Kadiri Hamzat and other State lawmakers-elect have received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

Governor Sanwo-Olu after receiving his certificate thanked the leadership of INEC for a successful conduct of the election, hoping that the future election would be better than now.

The Governor who asked citizens to hold his administration accountable as it commenced the next phase of the journey that would take effect in May 29, 2023, promised that his administration would take its mandate to a new level of performance.

“What makes Lagos unique is the ability for us to co-exist, though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand, as a city and as a State.

“This is the melting pot of the country and everyone as the right to co-exist in peace and harmony. The understanding of rule of law and order, and the ability to be resilient, that is what Lagosians are all about.

“This event have further confirm that we can live peacefully amongst ourselves. Like I have said, elections are over, politicking are over. Purposeful leadership is important now. We will even do a more quicker and faster job more than the one we have done in the last four years.”

He however urged Lagosians to be law-abiding, remain united, live in peace and harmony irrespective of faith, creed, political affiliations, tribe and should not leave room for hatred, incitement, or violence as they embrace true spirit of Lagos.

The Governor also assured that his administration was poised to unlock four more years of peace, progress, and prosperity for Lagos State.

In his remark, the Speaker Lagos state House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa reassured Lagosians that the State House of Assembly was ready to build on its last success.

Obasa said the presentation of the certificate of return to him and his colleagues were confirmation of their victory at the poll, stressing that the house would continue to make laws that would bring progress in Lagos and will continue to protect the interests of Lagosians.

He said: “I want to assure all Lagosians on behalf of my colleagues that we are ready to build on the last assembly ‘s success which is the 10th assembly. We will continue to make laws that will bring progress in Lagos and we will continue to protect the interests of Lagosians, that the assurance we have with my colleagues.We are going to support the governor.”

Similarly, the lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency One, Mr Gbolahan Yishawu pledged that he would work with him his colleagues to make laws that would make life better for Lagosians.

He however reiterated that the lawmakers would continue to support the Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration and
President-elect, Bola Tinubu to deliver dividends of democracy to the masses.

Speaking earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC). Mr Olusegun Agbaje congratulated the elected candidates saying the successful outcome of the Lagos State Governorship and State House of Assembly Election would not had been possible without the support and cooperation of the electorates who came out to vote for the candidates of their choice.
