The Lagos State Government has introduced two digital tools to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence: an AI-powered chatbot called ‘Ask INU’ and a self-reporting evidence portal.
These initiatives, launched by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), are part of ongoing efforts to leverage technology in the fight against gender-based violence.

‘Ask INU’—AI Chatbot for Instant Support
The ‘Ask INU’ chatbot, which stands for I Need You, is a WhatsApp-based artificial intelligence system designed to provide immediate assistance to domestic and sexual violence survivors. By messaging 0812 893 7058 on WhatsApp, users can access confidential and timely information about available support services. The chatbot offers guidance on reporting cases, seeking legal aid, and accessing counselling services.

In addition to the chatbot, the government has launched a self-reporting evidence portal, integrated into the Domestic and Sexual Violence Case Management System (DSVCMS). This platform allows survivors and mandated reporters to submit case details and securely upload evidence, including photos, videos, audio recordings, and medical reports. The portal aims to enhance evidence collection and preservation, ensuring that survivors have a stronger legal footing when seeking justice.
These initiatives align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision to use technology in combating domestic and sexual violence. The DSVA noted that the tools would provide survivors with swift access to help while strengthening the state’s ability to prosecute offenders.
With these digital innovations, Lagos State is taking a significant step forward in ensuring that survivors of domestic and sexual violence receive the support, protection, and justice they deserve.
