The Lagos State Government has announced a 6-week closure of the Falomo Bridge for repair works from Sunday, 14th March – Friday, 30th April, 2021.

The commercial hub of Nigeria, Lagos State, recently has been undertaking a series of re-construction, rehabilitation and repair works in its infrastructure sector.

A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, @dr_oladeinde, noted that the repairs will run on a 24-hour shift in phases to enable the contractor complete repairs within the estimated set time and minimize the anticipated inconveniences to road users.

He explained that the first stage of repairs will cover the Victoria Island-bound lane of the bridge, which will be closed to traffic, adding that motorists heading towards Victoria Island will be diverted to the Ikoyi-bound lanes to create a counter-flow.

The Commissioner also said that the Ikoyi-bound lane will be closed down for the second stage of rehabilitation works.

“In a similar fashion, motorists will be diverted to other lanes. Sufficient signage would be put up to guide motorists, just as traffic management personnel will be deployed to help motorists navigate their journey with ease,”  he explained.

Oladeinde appealed to residents of Lagos State to co-operate with the Government by complying with the directives and traffic advisory to allow the contractors finish the work in record time.
