Lagos Offers Financial Aid To 152 Vulnerable Residents

Lagos State Government has again offered financial assistance to about 152 vulnerable residents, under the ‘Sanwo-Olu Cares, Sanwo-Olu Listens‘ initiative.

The social intervention initiative according to the government is part of measures to alleviate poverty and improve well-being of individuals in the state.

Speaking at the official presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Tajudeen said the programme was the second batch for the year 2025.

The Special Adviser who reiterated the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration to cushion the effects of the harsh economic realities on residents, appealed to those who are yet to benefit from the initiative to be optimistic as the exercise was being conducted in batches across the twenty local government and thirty seven Local Council Development Areas.

Afolabi said: “In our usual way, we are putting smiles to the faces of Lagosians by giving cheques to beneficiaries to assist them.The Governor had promised during the campaign to put smiles on the faces of Lagosians. Over 200 people received similar gestures before the last Salah celebration and today another 152 cheques is given to those who are Indigents in the state. The least amount paid was four hundred thousand naira (N400,000) while the highest was One point five million naira (N1.5million).

There are various problems Lagosians are facing, and they are free to write to us. The prerequisites is to have Lagos State Residents Registration Card, LASRAA, NIN as well as passport photograph attached to the document, including the phone number. The processes are in two phases, it starts with proper documentation and then go through procurement process for approval of the list by Mr Governor. It is a representation of good governance and we want to thank Mr Governor and his Deputy for their support.”

He urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously and for the purpose it was meant for, stressing that the state government would continue to cater to the needs of the citizens at all times through numerous initiatives.

Some of the beneficiaries who were visibly elated thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu for his giving a listening ear to their plights and called for sustainability of the initiative beyond this present administration.
