Residents of Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos, have cast their ballots to elect their local government Chairmen and Councilors for a fresh four-year term.
Our correspondent reports that voting began at around 10 am for several voting centres.
Voters turn out appeared low across several of the polling units. But voting went on largely peacefully across the state.
Our correspondent who went round some Polling units reports that ”though voting commenced late and closed a little past official time in most of the centres, the process itself was quite calm and peaceful .”
Residents of the State are electing officials in 20 local governments and 37 Local Council development areas.
About 15 political parties took part in the election while 11 others are in court to challenge the conduct of the polls.
