Lagos State Government provides farmers quality farm implements
The Lagos State Government, South-west Nigeria, has restated its commitment to boosting food production by providing quality farm implements for farmers in the State.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, reaffirmed this at a quarterly sensitization programme organized for farmers in Alausa, Ikeja, the State capital.
Represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Olatokunbo Emopkai, the commissioner informed that the Lagos State Agricultural Inputs Supply Authority (LASIA) has established eight farm centres across the State to assist farmers with inputs.
“Over the years, LASIA has been at the forefront of supplying farmers in the State with high-quality farm implements, agrochemicals and seedlings at affordable prices.
“The government, through LAISA, has established eight farm service centres in different divisions of the State to give farmers easy access to quality agricultural inputs and ensure that the agency remains a one-stop centre for agricultural inputs supply to farmers,” Olusanya added.
On his part, the Assistant General Manager, Market Research and Development of the agency, Mr Olatoyinbo Ojuri, lauded the Ministry of Agriculture’s consistency in supporting LAISA to provide qualitative services to farmers, while also commending farmers for their commitment in making food available for residents of the State.
