Lagos State Government has concluded arrangements to hold the maiden Physical Planning Summit scheduled for fifteenth and sixteenth of this month.
The event according to the government is designed to review its developmental plans to meet infrastructure demand while creating opportunities for stakeholders to take advantage of investments.
Speaking at a press conference in Alausa Ikeja, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, said that the event will explore available options for implementation of the state master plan for sustainable development and position the state for investment as proposed in the Operative Development Plans (ODPs).
Dr Olumide acknowledged that despite the laudable achievements, there were still some noticeable gaps between the planning policy and implementation strategies which would be addressed at the upcoming summit.
The Commissioner also noted that the maiden summit which would have in attendance professionals, investors and international participants that would improve businesses and guide urban development plans in the state.
In his opening remarks, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, restated the commitment of the state government to building Lagos smart city while fostering discussions on climate change and urban development.
The two-day Summit is with the theme: “Rethinking Lagos: A new vision for regional and integrated mega city.”
