The only son of the late Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Idris Abolaji Abiola-Ajimobi, has declared his intention to run for the Ibadan Southwest Constituency II seat, in the state House of Assembly, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Idris Ajimobi, a chartered accountant, administrator, grassroot mobiliser and an indigene of Ibadan, made his declaration, on Tuesday, while meeting with the party leaders in his constituency, at the ALGON House, Ring-Road, Ibadan.
He said: “Today is a very historical day for me, my family and the people of Ibadan Southwest Constituency II. It has always been my childhood dream to serve humanity, a dream come to reality today as I am presenting myself to serve the good people of my constituency, Ibadan Southwest in particular, people of Ibadan and the entire citizenry in the state.”
Ajimobi appreciated the opportunity given him to achieve the dream he had been nursing since childhood and pleaded for the support and prayers of the party leaders and members, saying he cannot do it alone.
He disclosed that he is aware many of the party leaders and members knew his father, Abiola Ajimobi, the former governor and his grandfather, Alhaji Ganiu Ajimobi, who represented the people of Ibadan Southwest Constituency II during Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s regime and the unflinching legacies they left behind.
Ajimobi stated: “We shouldn’t let these legacies die and I’ll like to build on these enduring legacies while charting a course of my own to unite our people, bring the dividends of democracy closer and to the merit of our people.
“On this note, I announce today that I’ll be throwing my heart in the ring to contest for the membership of the Oyo State House of Assembly (Ibadan Southwest Constituency II), as your representative,” he stated.

He expressed trust in God, and confidence  that with the people’s support he would be victorious.
