A lawamaker representing (Yabo/Shagari-APC) federal constituency, Abubakar Umar, has inaugurated a medical outreach for free treatment of no fewer than 2,500 patients on various illnesses across his Constituency in Sokoto State.
Umar inaugurated the excercise in Yabo local government area of Sokoto State.
According to the lawmaker, the medical outreach is part of his Constituency Project to support the people towards accessing free treatment, medical consultation and drugs.
“As a popular saying, health is wealth and one can only become active if healthier, as such motivated my concentration in that direction.
“This is one of our responsibility as elected representative of the people.
“Therefore, I want to assure the people that we will continue in this direction until we achieve our desire of ensuring no patient die for lack of proper medical care,” he said.
His achievements
Umar urged people of the Constituency to come out and access the opportunity, while highlighting some of his achievements that include, provision of portable water, electricity, road and students scholarship among many others.
In his address, Mr Fatai Abiodun the representative of the Federal Ministry of Health appreciated the Lawmaker for coming up with the medical outreach.
“This is a great idea and will generally support the health condition of the people, as well as ease the hardship of accessing proper medications,” he said.
Mr Abiodum stated that their presence at the event was in order to monitor and observed the exercise, while commending the Lawmaker for enhancing a wider coverage of the programme.
Also the Head of the Medical Team, Dr Safiyanu Umar Yabo, said the outreach is targeting treatment of about 2,500 patients on various illness across Shagari and Yabo local government areas.
“We have categorised the exercise into three stages that include general surgical cases, eye surgery and general consultation.
“Under surgical cases we target no fewer than 200 patients of various surgery, while on eye surgery we are operating no fewer than 300 beneficiaries,” Dr Yabo said.
He adds that the target on consultancy of other illnesses is no fewer than 2,000 patients across the two LGAs.
