Lawmaker Warns Detractors Against Interference in Rivers State Politics
By Gloria Essien, Abuja
A lawmaker representing Abua/Odua and Ahoada East Federal Constituency in Rivers State, Mr. Solomon Bob has urged aggrieved politicians to stop putting Rivers State in a bad light.
Mr. Bob in a press briefing in Abuja, said that a mercenary who is being Bankrolled by an enabler in the House of Representatives is dabbling into the politics of Rivers State.
According to Mr. Bob, his colleague, Mr. Imo Ugochinyere is going out of his jurisdiction by speaking for a state that is not his own.
“He is not speaking for Rivera state. He has no mandate to speak for Rivers State. You cannot. You can only contribute to an issue in another state of the matter being brought to the floor by motion and provision is called for, you can speak. But outside of that place, as a representative, you cannot speak for another state. And most of what he does is outside the parliamentarian,” Mr. Bob said.
The lawmaker alleged that Ugochinyere had been meddling in issues beyond his jurisdiction, particularly concerning Rivers State, despite not being a representative of the state.
“How can someone who doesn’t hail from Rivers State, has no ties to our people, and doesn’t live there claiming to speak on our behalf? His actions are not only a breach of parliamentary decorum but also an insult to Rivers people,” he said.
According to him, Ugochinyere is a tool, enabling external forces to exploit the state while posturing as a representative.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to representing his constituency and addressing the concerns of Rivers State.
He expressed frustration with the lack of action from the House leadership despite raising the interference issues with the leadership.
