The House of Representatives has adopted a motion to investigate the utilization of ecological funds received by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
This was the sequel to a motion by Jimoh Olajide, at plenary.
While leading the debate, the lawmaker queried the utilization of the special intervention fund for the cushioning of natural as well as security-based calamities by the agency.
He stated that not much success has been achieved in this regard over the years and asked the House to mandate the House Committee on Disaster Preparedness to investigate the matter and report back to the House for more legislative action.
In NEMA’s defence, Abubakar Yalleman said that more research should have been done before moving the motion as the Agency has been up and doing and impacting affected communities nationwide.
The motion was voted on and adopted.
