Lawmakers laud Army’s 8 Division in Sokoto State

The House of Representatives Committee on Nigerian Army has applauded the performance of the 8 Division Army Headquarters in Sokoto state.

The Chairman of the Committee, Abdulrazak Namdas, made the commendation during an oversight visit in Sokoto State.

Namdas who was represented by a member of the Committee, Architect Almustapha Rabah, said they were at the 8 Division to assess their level of 2022 budget implementation.

He added that they were convinced with what they were briefed by the management of the 8 Division, especially in the area of projects execution.

From what we have seen so far, we are satisfied in terms of projects execution.

About 46 projects handled by the Division reaches the completion stage and we are optimistic with the meagre resources the division was able to achieve all the successes.”

According to him, in the area of kinetic approach, the division was able to achieve substantial successes within the period of review.

He further said with the commitments of the division, the challenges of Banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling has reduced drastically within their area of responsibility.

As you are aware the issue of bandits, kidnappers and other crimes bedevilling the northwestern part of the country has subsided,” he added.

Rabah noted that the visit was also to discuss extensively on how to re-strategise and increase budgetary allocation to Nigerian Army, adding that; We are now going back to see possibilities of increasing funding to Army as 2023 budget deliberation is still ongoing.”

The lawmakers were received by the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters and Commander Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Uwem Bassey and his management team.

The Committee members that visited the division were Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi, Balarabe Kakale led by Architect Almustapha Rabah among others.
