The selection of Speaker for Nigeria’s 10th House of Representatives should be left to the lawmakers to decide themselves.
The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe stated this while speaking to journalists at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abuja when he paid a visit to the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Speaking on the call by many for the Speaker of the House of Representatives to come from the North-Central region, Dr. Akabe said he was positive that the lawmakers and leaders of APC will consider all parameters before making a decision on which region the Speaker will come from.
“This is purely an issue for the National Assembly and am sure that by the time the National Assembly convene sometime in June, I am sure they will be able to look at all the parameters available and of course liaise with the party to arrive at the reliable persons that will lead the National Assembly and I am sure to thank with the leadership National Chairman has shown and with the experience of our President-elect, I think that they will do the needful for this country and I am sure that at the end of the day Nigerians will be very happy with the outcome and would be proud of our party” he said.
The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Senator Adamu for producing Nigeria’s next president.
“We are a delegation from Nasarawa state and a select group that has come to congratulate our father and mentor, the National Chairman of our great party on the success the party achieved in the last election. He has been able to produce the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Governor Sule Abdullahi) and as a leader of the party has weathered the storm to be able to produce our president” Akabe said.
