Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, legal counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra, has called for immediate and decisive measures to address the worsening insecurity in the South-East, particularly in Anambra State.

Ejiofor described the current state of insecurity as critical and alarming, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention. He highlighted a disturbing trend of frequent kidnappings, violence, and general lawlessness, which has instilled a pervasive atmosphere of fear among residents.

“This troubling situation underscores the necessity for a coordinated, proactive approach to safeguard our peace and stability. Having consistently advocated for robust measures to combat insecurity across the South-East, especially in Anambra and Imo states, I have raised alarms regarding the threats posed by non-state actors engaging in violent crimes,” Ejiofor remarked.

Despite his early warnings and repeated calls for timely interventions to dismantle burgeoning criminal networks, Ejiofor lamented that necessary preventive actions were sadly overlooked. The result has been a spiraling crisis that demands immediate attention.

“My unwavering commitment to the prosperity, security, and welfare of our region compels me to speak out again. It is crucial for the Anambra State Government, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, along with all political, traditional, and community leaders, to confront this imminent challenge head-on,” he stated.

Ejiofor asserted that complacency is no longer an option as communities continue to suffer. He stressed that the safety of the people and the future of the region should be of paramount importance.

On behalf of the responsible citizens of Anambra and the broader South-East, he called for “immediate and resolute action to dismantle these criminal elements and restore law, order, and stability.”

“The time to act is now. We must come together decisively to reclaim our region from the clutches of insecurity. The stakes could not be higher, and failure to act would be an egregious betrayal of the people we are sworn to protect. The decisions made today will impact future generations, and we owe it to them to make the right choices,” Ejiofor emphasized.
