LG Polls: Kaduna Govt Restricts Movement

Ahead of the Councillorship and Chairmanship elections into the 255 Wards and 23 Local Government Councils slated for Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Kaduna State Security Council has imposed a restriction of movement throughout the State from 6am to 7pm on the said date.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State and made available to newsmen in Kaduna.

 

Orderly conduct

According to Aruwan, the movement restriction is to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.

 

By this notice, vehicular movement, as well as commercial and other related activities which may constitute impediments to law and order are to cease within the period of the restriction (6am to 7pm on Saturday). “

 

He said that, only persons performing essential duties are exempted from the restriction, and may move during the period with proper identification and clearance.

 

Aruwan advised citizens to refrain from actions that could disrupt public peace or affect smooth conduct of the elections, adding that, security agencies have been deployed to ensure enforcement and compliance.

 

He encouraged members of the general public to promptly report any observed acts which threatens law and order to security agencies, and not take laws into their hands.
