Liberia Versus Nigeria: Captain Says Eagles Must Win
Captain Ahmed Musa said the Super Eagles would go for nothing but victory against the Lone Star of Liberia in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Grand Stade de Tangier on Saturday.
With the arrival of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen late Tuesday night, there were 22 players already in camp as the coach Gernot Rohr-led side perfect strategies for the encounter in the Moroccan port city.
“Everybody is happy, calm and ready for the game and we already have 22 players in camp and only expecting the goalkeeper(Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble ) and (Odion) Ighalo,” the Fatih Karagumruk striker said. “We know the importance of the game and we don’t have to lose the match; but need to get the three maximum points.
“At the end of the match on Saturday, we shall be happy.”
The former Leicester City striker said further that the ambiance of Tangier would bode well for the Super Eagles against the Lone Star.
“The weather here in Morocco is good and just like what we have in Europe,” he assured.
“We all love it, and we hope the weather can give us what we want Insha Allah.”
Meanwhile, returning striker Ighalo was still being expected last night alongside Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble – who was drafted in as a last-minute replacement for injured Cyprus-based star Francis Uzoho.
Ighalo – who was the top scorer at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations – rescinded his decision to quit international football after a two-year hiatus, a verdict that saw him invited for the fixtures against Liberia and Cape Verde.
