Premier League legend Gary Lineker believes that Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, should join Arsenal, if he is going to leave Napoli for the Premier League, and turn down Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move away from Napoli and it seems that he will make that switch in the summer.

President of the Italian side Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted that the forward would be on the move at the end of the season, despite his contract currently running until 2026.

“We knew that since last summer,” De Laurentiis told reporters on Friday.

“That’s why the contract negotiations were so drawn out and amicable but we knew perfectly well that he would go Real Madrid, to PSG or to a English team.”

Reports suggest Chelsea is the preferred destination of the Nigerian, but Lineker believes Arsenal would be a better choice for him.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast on Saturday, the former England striker said, “I think I’d look at it and I’d go, at the moment, Arsenal. Obviously, we’re talking about everyone offering the same thing, that’s what you want. in your contract.

“I mean, to be honest, they earn so much now that you can just choose where you want to go. I would say, Arsenal are probably a centre-forward away from winning things.

“Chelsea are a centre-forward away from becoming competitive again. Manchester United are a centre-forward away from improving, but they’ve still got a long way to go. If I were him, you want to go somewhere where you think you’re going to win things.”

Osimhen spoke out on his future earlier this week, telling pressmen, “The rumour is going around about me linked with the Premier League. Of course, when you’re one of the hottest strikers in the world you expect this type of thing, the EPL is one of the biggest and best leagues in the world.

“For me, I’m with Napoli, signed a new contract and enjoying my time there with the team, at the end of the season I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do in my career. Since I’ve started, I’ve been the one making my own decisions on everything and it’s working out well for me, even though when I started it didn’t go so well.

“I already have my plan, I already know the next step I want to take, so for now I just want to finish the season strong.”
