The London Political Summit and Awards (LPSA) has honoured the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, with the Nigeria Regional Government Development Champion of the Year award.

It was conferred during a special ceremony held at the UK House of Commons in London.

The award was presented during a Parliamentary Session hosted by the Member of Parliament for Burnley, Hon. Oliver Ryan, and chaired by Prof. Kishan Devani BEM, celebrating Dr. Ogbuku’s remarkable contributions to regional development, innovation, and governance in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Though unable to attend in person, Dr. Ogbuku was represented by Dr. Chris Ekam and Dr. Willie Etim, who received the award on his behalf.

Expressing gratitude to the group, Ogbuku noted that the international recognition is a strong indication that the Commission’s efforts are being noticed not only within Nigeria but around the world.

“This award encourages us to do more; we are committed to completing legacy projects and investing in human capital development to drive long-term prosperity in the Niger Delta,” he stated.

The group also recognised the NDDC as the Nigeria Regional Development Agency of the Year 2025.

Founder and Convener of the London Political Summit and Awards, Mr. Godson Azu, highlighted the significance of the annual summit as a global platform for fostering democratic dialogue, leadership development, and international cooperation.

“The summit was born from a vision to promote dialogue, peace, and democratic partnerships between Africa, the Commonwealth, and the global community,” he said.

Other honourees at the event included former Kenyan Vice President Dr. Stephen Musyoka, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, and Mayor Paul Bristow.
