Maiden Senatorial,Reps Candidates Debate Holds In Anambra

The flag bearers of various political parties for Senators and House of Representatives in Anambra state, engaged in election debate at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, the state capital.

They presented their manifestos during the 2023 Anambra Political Dialogue; De Mace Debate, jointly organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Anambra state Council and Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union(RATTAWU ),in collaboration with Society for Equity Justice and Peace and Bring It on Africa.

According to the moderator and Vice President RATTAWU Prince Emeka Kalu, the debate is geared towards ensuring that electorate are better informed on the economic and political policies of their representatives.

Top issues based on security, education, transportation and various sectors of the nation’s economy were tackled by the candidates.

They all pledged quality representation if elected come February 25, 2023.

The event which had earlier kicked off with five contestants was midway joined by Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, of the APGA party.

The candidates that participated in the senatorial debate are, Senator Uche Ekwunife of the People’s Democratic party, Senator Victor Umeh of the Labour Party, Dr. Kodilichukwu Okelekwe of the All Progressives Congress, Honourable Chinedu Umeadi of the Young Progressives Party, Princess Helen Mbakwe of the New Nigerian Peoples Party and Honourable Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The senatorial candidates had their debate first ,followed by the house of representatives candidates debate .
