Major General Audu Assumes Command of MNJTF Headquarters N’Djamena

The Multinational Joint Task Force Operation (MNJTF) has had a change of Command with Major General Saidu Audu officially resuming as the new Force Commander of the Task Force at the MNJTF Headquarters in N’Djamena, Chad.

The appointment comes as part of the recent Nigerian Army Headquarters redeployment of senior officers following the appointment of the current Service Chiefs.

According to a statement by the Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, the outgoing Force Commander, Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut, appreciated the Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, Military Staff Officers, African Union Mission Support Team, European Union, and other partners for their sustained support.

He urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor as he proceeds to his new role as Corps Commander, Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army.

In his maiden address, Major General Audu appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to consolidate on the existing gains of the MNJTF, deepen regional synergy, and foster collaboration with communities and stakeholders to strengthen stability and peace in the Lake Chad region.

The ceremony featured the signing and exchange of handing and taking over notes, the symbolic handover of the command flag, and a group photograph marking the leadership transition.
