Major General Musa takes over as Chief of Defence Staff

Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa has taken over from the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.

The takeover ceremony took place on Friday, June 23, 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Major General Musa applauded the former CDS General Lucky Irabor for showing the Armed Forces purposeful leadership and leadership without bitterness.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria will work as a team to achieve the mandate of the military in dealing with the security challenges facing the nation.

According to him, within the last two years and five months, the former CDS was able to stabilise the Nation despite the security challenges facing the nation.

General Musa assured him that his leadership will not let him down and that 38 regular course officers will make him proud.

He added that service is a duty call to all of them, not just him alone but everybody has a role to play including the citizenry.

He noted that the former CDS has been able to galvanize the entire nation together as a way forward.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Nigeria need to synergize their activities together as together, they will achieve the mandate that was given to them.

The Defence Chief assured to give the right leadership as he will be there 24/7 to ensure that the mandate of the military is achieved.

He pledged that the Armed Forces must work together and that is the way forward.

The former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their great job in keeping the country safe and trying to restore peace in the country.

General Irabor said he is proud of the military for discharging their duties well.

The Armed forces of Nigeria are better now than what it was before.

According to him, the New CDS is suitable because the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the right choice.

“Making the right choice for him to take the reins on the commander of the armed forces is like to appreciate Mr. President and Chief leadership for presenting and thanking God for bringing into the leadership of the nation at this time and for the very brave reforms that’s already underway. The promises that He has made the inaugural speech ceremony of his inauguration last Mr. President, two times I’ve met him, one on one regarding the armed forces, his plans for the armed forces for the intention to to astronomically lift the fortunes of the armed forces to greater heights. I believe that going forward and allied to crave your indulgence Musa please to fall on these promises for them to be brought to light to use the opportunity to reassure the armed forces. The commander in Chief promised the fortunes of the Armed Forces would certainly be better learned to enjoy you not only to remain loyal, committed to the Commander in Chief and the Constitution of the Republic.’’

He urged the members of the Armed Forces to redouble their efforts so that the cherished values and professional forces will be maintained.

The new CDS also joined men and women of the Armed Forces to know that democracy is the best form of government political leadership experience so they must at all times remain loyal to the Constitution authority, in particular the constitution of the Federal Republic adding that political evolution is not without challenges.
