Nigeria’s newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya has officially assumed command as the 22nd Army Chief on May 28, 2021.
The ceremony which took place at the Army Headquarters, Abuja the nation’s capital, started with the inspection of Guard and went into a closed-door session afterwards.
The new COAS before the closed-door meeting asked that a minute silence as a mark of respect be observed for the late Lieutenant General, Ibrahim Attahiru and other military personnel killed in a plane crash last week Friday. in Kaduna State, North West Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
