Malaria Consortium Begins 2024 Planning in Nasarawa State

A malaria elimination program, ‘Malaria Consortium’ has begun a State-Level Planning for the 2024 implementation of the malaria project in Nasarawa state.

The planning brought together stakeholders in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital to brainstorm on the challenges faced during the program in the previous year.

 

The stakeholders in the malaria elimination program also provided and preferred possible solutions to ensure significant improvement in the program in 2024.

 

Speaking on the objective of the meeting, the State Program Manager, (SPM), Hajia Hafsat Baba, explained that the orientation of critical stakeholders on SMC strategies and guidelines for 2024 SMC is very crucial.

 

She also said that the sustainable commitment of critical stakeholders to ensure commodity security of SPAQ and other SMC commodities and to harmonize and ensure a better understanding of SMC rollout 2024 is very necessary.

 

Hajia Baba further said that SMC is ready to employ about 10,897 personnel to work for the 2024 round of the program.

 

Declaring the program open, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, said the planning was focused on providing orientation for stakeholders in the state, especially on SMC projects, and how the program would be rolled out throughout the year without hindrances.

 

“We know this is the fourth year that Nasarawa states will be implementing Seasonal malaria chemoprevention in the states and then to also harmonize and share on the spending on the rollouts”.

 

Dr. Gwamna noted that the ministry would continue to support every program that would improve the quality of health of the people in line with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s Administration which has placed a high priority on the health sector.

 

Highlights of the meeting were the presentation of the 2023 program and referring solutions for the 2024 program.

 

Voice of Nigeria reports that all stakeholders involved are present at the 2024 planning for a smooth take-off and effective implementation of the program.
