Manchester United’s Champions League hopes are still alive despite their defeat to Galatasaray, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils are bottom of Group A, but Ten Hag believes they can still qualify for the knockout stages if they win their remaining matches.
“Everything is open,” he said.
“We have a double-header against Copenhagen coming up, and we know what we need to do.”
United, who lost 4-3 at Bayern Munich in their opener last month, twice took the lead against the Turkish champions through Rasmus Hojlund but were pegged back by goals from Wilfried Zaha and Kerem Akturkoglu before Mauro Icardi scored the winner.
United midfielder Christian Eriksen echoed his manager’s sentiments, saying that the team is still in the race and that they need to win every game to have a chance of qualifying.
“Luckily it is only the start of the competition and we’ve only played two games.
“There’s still a lot of games to play and catch up – we know we need to win every game to have every opportunity to go through.”
United are also struggling in the Premier League, but Ten Hag is hoping that his team can bounce back from their recent setbacks and beat Brentford on Saturday.
