Manchester United Eyeing Victor Osimhen in £63.3m January Move

Manchester United are reportedly ready to spend £63.3m to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the January transfer window. The move comes as new manager Ruben Amorim seeks solutions to the team’s persistent goalscoring struggles.

United Leading the Race for Osimhen

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that the Red Devils have initiated talks with Osimhen’s representatives, positioning themselves ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in the race for his signature. However, signing Osimhen will require Manchester United to compensate Galatasaray for terminating the striker’s season-long loan deal.

Osimhen’s Commitment to Galatasaray

Despite the interest, Osimhen has publicly affirmed his dedication to Galatasaray. Speaking after scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over Tottenham, he said:

“I will not leave in January; I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about, but if they come to me, we will talk. Galatasaray is a nice club that I like very much.”

The Super Eagles forward has been in exceptional form for Galatasaray, with 12 goals and 5 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions since joining the Turkish side in September.

Napoli’s £63.3m Valuation

While Osimhen’s release clause is set at £75m, Napoli are reportedly open to accepting a £63.3m bid in January. Former Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu has expressed doubts about the Turkish club’s ability to secure a permanent deal for Osimhen:

“It is difficult for Galatasaray to buy Victor Osimhen. Financial situations need to be considered.”

Manchester United’s Struggles

Manchester United have endured a tough season, scoring just 21 goals and suffering consecutive defeats against Bournemouth and Wolves. The team currently sits 14th in the Premier League, closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

Signing Osimhen could provide the firepower Amorim’s side desperately needs to salvage their season.
