Manufacturers Of Agricultural Products To Obtain Approval Before Hitting Market

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ogun State Chapter, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, has stressed that prospective manufacturers of agricultural products are now required to obtain approvals from relevant regulatory agencies before bringing their goods to market.

Speaking during a meeting held at his office in Abeokuta, the commissioner underscored the critical importance of ensuring high-quality products and mitigating the risks associated with counterfeit items.

During the meeting, Hon. Owotomo welcomed an agricultural investor from Poland, Barr. Miroslaw Jerzy, who represented the Group Management Fasting S A Conglomerate. Barr. Jerzy introduced a new organic soil improver named Florahumus, sourced from the deposits of the Sieniawa Brown coal mine in Poland. He emphasized Florahumus’ potential to revolutionize farming practices and soil management techniques, highlighting its effectiveness as a plant growth stimulant.

Engr. Isaac Agbamu, representing PICPAH Company Limited, further elaborated on Florahumus’ attributes, emphasizing its environmental safety and its ability to enhance soil fertility and crop yields. The introduction of Florahumus marked a significant step towards sustainable agriculture in Ogun State, aligning with the Ministry’s efforts to support the growth of agro-allied industries.

Further speaking, Hon.Owotomo stated that “In addition to promote innovative agricultural practices, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is actively working to enhance the capacity of cassava farmers in the state.

“This initiative aims to meet the increasing demands of emerging agro-allied industries, thereby fostering economic growth and development within the agricultural sector.”

Meanwhile, farmers across Ogun State received assurance of continued government support to bolster their activities.

This assurance was reiterated by Hon. Owotomo during a separate meeting with executives of the All-Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, held in Abeokuta. Chairman Alhaja Ganiyat Adeoye-Kusimo expressed gratitude for the various incentives provided by the government to enhance farmers’ productivity, reaffirming the commitment of AFAN to collaborate closely with the government to further advance the agricultural sector in the state.
